I have now attended both of my certifying
births and will be applying for my certifcation in three weeks when I can submit my birth evaluation.
I want to thank the mothers that allowed
me to attend their births for my certifcation. You both did so amazing. The births were completely different in
so many aspects and they both taught me so many things.
I have learned that women apologize profusely
after the birth of their baby, even though there is no need to do so. I have also learned that I can be yelled at a
bit and I know not to let it bother me ;) I learned that nothing is ever "normal." That each woman and their labors
are so different. Their needs are different. I learned that some labors are very short and some are very long.
I learned that I am able to run off of 3 hours of sleep in a 48 hour span.
These are all things I knew before but
learning them on a practical level is much different then reading them in books.
The most important thing I have learned
though, is that being a doula or being involved with the aspect of childbirth is truly something I want to do with my life.
Thank you so much, Mama's, for giving
me this opportunity. I can never explain how much it meant to me.
